  • Klaus Schwab | Lionbliss

Overview Klaus Martin Schwab (German pronunciation: [klaʊs ˈmaʁtiːn ʃvaːp]; born 30 March 1938) is a German engineer and economist best known as the founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum. Schwab was professor of business policy at the University of Geneva from 1972 to 2003, and since then has been an Honorary Professor there.[4] Since 1979, he has published the Global Competitiveness Report, an annual report assessing the potential for increasing productivity and economic growth of countries around the world, written by a team of economists. The report is based on a methodology developed by Schwab, measuring competitiveness not only in terms of productivity but also based on sustainability criteria.[8] During the earlier years of his career, he served on a number of company boards, such as The Swatch Group, The Daily Mail Group, and Vontobel Holding. He is a former member of the steering committee of the Bilderberg Group.[9] Founder of World Economic Forum In 1971, Schwab founded the European Management Forum,[10] (which in 1987 became the World Economic Forum — often referred to simply as "Davos", the name of the town where the forum is hosted each year). In 1971, he also published Moderne Unternehmensführung im Maschinenbau[11] (Modern Enterprise Management in Mechanical Engineering). In that book, he argued that the management of a modern enterprise must serve both shareholders and corporate stakeholders (die Interessenten), to achieve long-term growth and prosperity. Schwab has championed the multistakeholder concept since the WEF's inception. In 2015, the WEF was formally recognised by the Swiss Government as an "international body".[12] Schwab appointed José María Figueres as CEO of the World Economic Forum, with the intent that Figueres would be his successor. In October 2004, however, Figueres resigned[13] over his undeclared receipt of more than US$900,000 in consultancy fees from the French telecommunications firm Alcatel.[14] In 2006, Transparency International highlighted this incident in their Global Corruption Report.[15] In 2004, Schwab created a new foundation using the US$1 million prize money from the Dan David Prize.[16] In 2011, he founded the Global Shapers Community, a global network of local communities, or "hubs", of young people, called "shapers", aged 20 to 30, who are exceptional in their potential, achievements and drive to make a contribution to their communities. As of September 2021, 444 "hubs" had been created comprising 10,600 "shapers".[17] Notable Content (WIP)

  • Robin Williams | Lionbliss

Overview Robin McLaurin Williams (July 21, 1951 – August 11, 2014) was an American actor and comedian. Known for his improvisational skills[1][2] and the wide variety of characters he created on the spur of the moment and portrayed on film, in dramas and comedies alike,[3][4] he is regarded as one of the best comedians of all time.[5][6][7] Williams began performing stand-up comedy in San Francisco and Los Angeles during the mid-1970s,[8] and rose to fame playing the alien Mork in the ABC sitcom Mork & Mindy (1978–1982).[9] After his first starring film role in Popeye (1980), he starred in several critically and commercially successful films including The World According to Garp (1982), Moscow on the Hudson (1984), Good Morning, Vietnam (1987), Dead Poets Society (1989), Awakenings (1990), The Fisher King (1991), Patch Adams (1998), One Hour Photo (2002), and World's Greatest Dad (2009). He also received two Primetime Emmy Awards, six Golden Globe Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and five Grammy Awards. On August 11, 2014, at age 63, Williams died by suicide at his home in Paradise Cay, California. Williams once described the life of stand-up comedians: It's a brutal field, man. They burn out. It takes its toll. Plus, the lifestyle—partying, drinking, drugs. If you're on the road, it's even more brutal. You gotta come back down to mellow your ass out, and then performing takes you back up. They flame out because it comes and goes. Suddenly they're hot, and then somebody else is hot. Sometimes they get very bitter. Sometimes they just give up. Sometimes they have a revival thing and they come back again. Sometimes they snap. The pressure kicks in. You become obsessed and then you lose that focus that you need.[8]: 34–35

  • Howard Hughes | Lionbliss

Overview Howard Robard Hughes Jr. (December 24, 1905 – April 5, 1976) was an American business magnate, investor, record-setting pilot, engineer,[2] film director, and philanthropist, known during his lifetime as one of the most influential and financially successful individuals in the world. He first became prominent as a film producer, and then as an important figure in the aviation industry. Later in life, he became known for his eccentric behavior and reclusive lifestyle—oddities that were caused in part by his worsening obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), chronic pain from a near-fatal plane crash, and increasing deafness. As a film tycoon, Hughes gained fame in Hollywood beginning in the late 1920s, when he produced big-budget and often controversial films such as The Racket (1928),[3] Hell's Angels (1930),[4] and Scarface (1932). He later took over the RKO Pictures film studio in 1948, recognized then as one of the Big Five studios of Hollywood's Golden Age, although the production company struggled under his control and ultimately ceased operations in 1957.
