National March on Washington: Fund People’s Needs, Not the War Machine!

Peace in Ukraine – Say NO to Endless U.S. Wars! Coinciding with the 20th anniversary weekend of the criminal U.S.-invasion of Iraq a major set of actions will take place including a demonstration at the White House in Washington, D.C. on Saturday March 18 demanding “Peace in Ukraine – Say NO to Endless U.S. Wars” and “Fund People’s Needs, Not the War Machine.” Since 2003, the U.S. has engaged in sanctions (economic war) on more than 40 countries. These targets of U.S. economic warfare include the people of Cuba, Zimbabwe, Venezuela, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Iran and many other nations. Even in the wake of the worst disasters, like the recent deadly earthquake, Washington keeps its cruel sanctions in place against Syria. U.S. bases and “commands” blanket most of the world. It is a global empire. The Biden administration is determined to escalate the Ukraine war. The real goal of the massive arming and training of Ukrainian forces has nothing to do with the interests of Ukrainian, Russian or American people. The aim instead is to “weaken Russia” as stated by the U.S. Secretary of Defense himself, even at the risk of a catastrophic nuclear war that could end life on Earth. A U.S. General commanding 50,000 troops in the Pacific also issued a letter to his sub-commanders in recent days informing them that he believes that the United States will be at war with China within two years. The danger of global war is growing! The people must act!

Silicon Valley Bank customers get bailed out

The collapse of Silicon Valley Bank prompted the US government to roll out the biggest rescue package since the 2008 financial crisis. On Sunday, the US Treasury, Federal Reserve, and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation said in a joint statement that all depositors of SVB would be made whole on Monday. They also rolled out other measures to support the broader financial system.

  • Regulators shut down Silicon Valley Bank on Friday and halted account withdrawals.

  • Over the weekend, SVB customers worried if they'd get their money back on time.

  • The government stepped in Sunday with the largest rescue package since the 2008 financial crisis.

China brokers deal between Saudi Arabia and Iran

After four days of talks in Beijing, both Tehran and Riyadh agreed to reestablish relations and open up embassies in their respective countries following seven years of hostilities. The news is bringing hopes that both nations will whittle down support for opposing factions in the deadly Yemen civil war. The announcement was a major diplomatic and political win for China, whose top diplomat, Wang Yi, hailed it as a “victory” and said Beijing would continue to address global issues.

Biden Administration - Willow Project 'Drilling oil in Alaska'

The Biden administration has approved a controversial $8bn (£6bn) drilling project on Alaska’s North Slope, which has drawn fierce opposition from environmentalists and some Alaska Native communities, who say it will speed up the climate breakdown and undermine food security. The ConocoPhillips Willow project will be one of the largest of its kind on US soil, involving drilling for oil and gas at three sites for multiple decades on the 23m-acre National Petroleum Reserve which is owned by the federal government and is the largest tract of undisturbed public land in the US.

Donald Trump claims he will be arrested 'next' Tuesday 3/21

Former President Donald Trump said he expects to be arrested Tuesday in connection with a Manhattan district attorney investigation and called on his supporters to protest, even as uncertainty remained about whether any legal action was actually imminent. Trump's advisers Tuesday made clear they had no specific knowledge of the timing of any possible indictment, even as the former president made the comments on Truth Social, the social media network he founded. Trump is under investigation for a $130,000 payment he made just before the 2016 election to silence adult film star Stormy Daniels about an earlier affair. The former president has denied wrongdoing, and federal investigators ended their own inquiry into the payments in 2019.
